A patient waiter, waiting it out I’ll find me a treasure, there is no doubt She’ll walk by my window as I type Correct the spelling of what I write Throw me a whisper of intriguing light I’ll be surprised, without a fright Bright light peaks through a crack Like exposed skin glows in late spring Through tears in your jeans’ knees Jeez Louise it goes well with a cup of tea I’ll put up a fight but just in jest I’ll lay down my head upon her breast She’ll sing me a lullaby without a sound I’ll thank the Lord for the one I found Bright light peaks through a crack Like the skin through your jeans’ knees In the clouds hanging low and confused Is this spring or the fall that I am used to? I can see you look uncertain Must uncurtain the certain I must uncurtain the certain I must uncurtain the certain

Modern Lyfe 02:13
This modern life is optional This modern life is merely an option We have the right to take naps daily We have the right to disconnect completely We have the right to take it easy We have the right to dance ridiculously This modern life is optional This modern life is merely an option We have the right to ignore the news We have the right to enjoy the blues We have the right to wander aimlessly We have the right to wonder illogically We have the right to take it easy We have the right to dance ridiculously

Mile Ended 02:40
Mile ended so get on a boat Forget the memories and keep on coast- ing into new horizons Feel the life in your hands Don't surrender to death Till it takes away your breath Connect the islands with your presence Float on till you get off When life kicks you, turn on your heel and continue I cannot be everything that I want to be because the time is ticking I want to be all that I can be Like the American TV tells me If you saw yourself from a third-person view Would you want to be you?

True, I haven't written in a while But it doesn't mean I haven't thought about you If thinking were a crime, in no time I'd be a criminal Lately action has been minimal, in this quiet town I've been well I think I've been good No opportunity for mischief in this hood I miss the old stompin' grounds I miss the faces I've lost and found I miss your little face the most, Miss Oh in this neighbourhood I can't be understood So won't you come, we could understand each other some, mmhm I miss the old stompin' grounds I miss the faces I've lost and found I miss your little face the most, Miss True, I haven't written in a while But it doesn't mean I haven't thought about you If thinking were a crime, in no time I'd be a criminal Lately action has been minimal, in this quiet town

No Language 01:13
(no real words)

Followed you like a puppy dog Through the Monday night black From the discotheque to the after-bar I longed for you, so I waited long When we spoke sparks hit my eyes Words dropped out of my mouth (Clumsy like my steps on the sidewalk Silly questions and inter)jections To get your undivided attention And I got it for a moment And I got it till the morning And I got it once on the telephone Then I got it no more Now I understand You called it quits before it began Better this way, things turned out best Chip off my shoulder, deep breath in my chest

I Say 02:46
I've got a heavy heart Shaking my knees Climbs up into my throat Now it's out in the breeze I can't keep it in when thoughts flood my mind So I'll blurt it out and make your eyes cry I say the stupidest things sometimes I say the stupidest things sometimes Not a man of many words but when they come out They hit like a ton of bricks You laugh or cry Not a man if I can't speak my mind But who's listening anyhow Who's listening is what counts I say the stupidest things sometimes I say the stupidest things sometimes I say the stupidest things sometimes Sometimes

Zebra Dream 03:13
I woke up late I looked in the glass Saw a zebra staring Was it someone from my past? I slept in too far I knew I had dreamt The animal within me Has become my new pet I woke up late Looked in the mirror I woke up late Looked in the mirror Saw imprints on my face From the creases of my pillow There was a weeping willow Dark clouds and a stream I was floating upon it A sailor of my dream I have sailed, now I'm a sailor I have failed, am I a failure? I have sailed, now I'm a sailor I have failed, tell me, am I a failure? The animal within me Is unleashed at night When my mind shuts its eyes It's a bestial sight I woke up late Looked in the mirror Saw imprints on my face From the creases of my pillow I have sailed, now I'm a sailor...

about

A departure from the more-polished Pepe Vive (2020) sound, TIPS COLA embraces imperfection and Zef uses it as a palette for more-immediate self-expression. Getting away from computer-based tracking and editing was the intention and with it came several noticeable, yet authentic, imperfections. Zef used a Tascam PortaStudio 414 (Mark 1) and a Shure SM58 mic to track most of the album, with the exception of very few digital overdubs for album cohesion. He also live-mixed the songs while bouncing them to the digital realm. Zef states that, "this proved to be a refreshing approach in our overly-visual, pixel-pushing and auto-tuning world. The aim was to avoid, as much as possible, the use of screens and visuals and to put the ears at the forefront of the creative process... the way it used to be". This also aligns with one of the core messages in the album: "We have the right to disconnect completely" (track 03). Zef wishes your ears a pleasant journey.
